Today was our final exam period. We had to make the first letter of our name out of 2 inch pink foam. We then had to cover the foam with sheet metal. Our class had 2 hours to complete this. I didn't finish my letter; I still had the bottom and inside to cover.

Today on our last engineering design class, we had the Super Clamp Finals. It was between a student in period 1 and a student in our period 5 class. The student in period 5 won $100. Today I helped my friend Mariah with her trophy. She needed a number 1 for her softball trophy. I used the bandsaw to get the basic shape. Then I used the belt sander to finish it off. Today I finished making my picture frame. I painted the yellow string black. I also painted the steel on the back black. I brought it home and my mom liked it very much. I never got around to finishing my picture frame from term one. Today I had down time between projects so I decided to work on this. I sanded down the old coat of paint. I also attached a string to the back so it can hang from a wall. A few weeks ago, my dad brought home our bridge from a few terms ago. My design group and I decided not to test it until it broke. We decided this because my dad wanted to take the bridge home. It is currently hanging in our garage. Today I finshed my trophy. I gave the stand and racket each one coat of paint. I engraved "First Place" into the front of the racket. I painted the racket navy blue because that is one of our school colors. Today I sanded every piece and glued them together. I painted the tennis ball yellow and used liquid nail to make the lines. I nailed the tennis racket and stand together by drilling a hole and putting a piece of metal in each end. Tomorrow will be the finishing touches. Today I attached the tennis racket to the base. Before this, I sanded and cut each piece. I also cut the ball down so it is rounded. I will make the attachment more sound next class. Today I reglued the tennis racket because it broke. I also cut and glued the ball. I started the stand for the trophy. Next class, I have to sand everything. |
