Photo 1 - Cruise Ship (Photo Series Assignment)
I chose this picture because it is a good representation of a mix of textures. The rusty, old pole contrasts from the smooth, calm water. There is also a good variety of color, with the turquoise blue of the water catching the viewer's eye. The rusty pole has leading lines that carry your eye throughout the photo. The depth of field is large. The shutter speed is fast. I believe this photo contains compelling subject matter.
Photo 2 - Blue Rubbings (ICA Photo Assignment)
I chose this picture because of it's monochromatic color scheme. I like the various shades of view. This photo also has compelling subject matter. It is rubbing's of the artist's father's belongings. This photo has a large depth of field, and a fast shutter speed.
Photo 3 - Movement (Portraits Redone Assignment)
I chose this picture because of it's sense of movement. Even though the subject is blurred, you can still tell the subject is getting ready to throw a ball. The photo has a long shutter speed in order to capture all the movements of throwing the ball.
Photo 4 - Docked (Photo Series Assignment)
I chose this photo because of it's point of view. Even though the camera is very close to the pole, everything in the picture is in focus, giving it a large depth of field. The rope attached to the pole also creates leading lines, as the viewer's eye is brought to the ship. I also think it's cool how such a small rope can hold a large ship.
