Mid - Year Evaluation
Photo 1 - White Mountains ("Best Photo" Assignment)
I took this photo this late August after I climbed the Welch and Dickey Mountains from Welch Summit.
I believe this photo has a strong sense of depth. You can clearly see the trees in the foreground all the way to the mountain ranges in the far background. I also believe this photo is rich in texture because you can make out the needles of the trees, yet the clouds look soft and fluffy.
I choose this as my best photo not only because of it's composition, but it's meaning. It was the last activity I did before leaving New Hampshire, so it was a cool way to end a mini vacation.
Technical: *I took this photo on my phone.
Shutter Speed - Fast
Depth of Field - Large
Photo 2 - Sports Equipment ("Capturing Color" Assignment)
I took this picture outside on the turf during a gym class. I really like this picture because of the bright colors and how detailed it is.
Composition: POV - low to the ground
Texture - the texture of the bag contrasts from the pattern of the turf giving the photo a variety of patterns and textures
Technical: Depth of Field – shallow
Shutter Speed – fast
Communication: I think this photo has an interesting point of view as stated before because it gives a different view to the picture compared to just taking it from a bird’s eye view.
Mood – sporty
Photo 3 - Fall Leaves ("Capturing Light" Assignment)
I took this picture in class with the prime lense. I really like the detail of the photo.
Composition: POV – eye level with the plant
Distance – I was fairly close to leaves because with a prime lense you have to physically zoom in
Technical: Shutter Speed – fast
Depth of Field – shallow
Communication: mood – fall, autumn
Compelling Subject Matter – the leaves are in the process of turning different colors while in the background you can see blurry green leaves.
Photo 4 - St. Louis de France ("Building Portraits" Assignment)
I took this picture on my Nikon during vacation for the Building Portraits project. I really like the lighting in this picture and the mix of organic and geometric shapes.
Composition: Distance – relatively far away from the subject
Color – I think leaving the picture in color makes it more interesting because the sun was almost setting
Technical: Shutter Speed – fast
Depth of Field – large
Communication: Mood/ Meaning – makes you think of religion
Subject Matter – I think the architecture of the building makes it an interesting subject matter.
